Harbor Isle — a free online trading and settling game for 3 to 4 players

Harbor Isle is a browser board game played on a hexagonal island. Every roll of the dice pays out wood, brick, sheep, wheat and ore to whoever built next to the right hex, and you spend it building roads, settlements and cities. First to ten victory points wins.

How it compares

If you have played Catan, Harbor Isle needs no explanation: a hex island, resource-producing number tokens, roads and settlements on the edges and corners, and trades that are half negotiation and half arithmetic. The island layout and the balance are our own.

How to play Harbor Isle

  1. 1Open a room. Pick Harbor Isle, choose a name and avatar, and create a room. Share the six-character code with two or three friends.
  2. 2Place your first settlements. Everyone places starting settlements and roads. Corners touching three good numbers are worth fighting for.
  3. 3Roll for resources. Each turn starts with a dice roll. Every settlement or city next to a hex with that number produces.
  4. 4Trade. Trade resources with the other players, or at a harbour rate, to get the one card you are short of.
  5. 5Build. Spend resources on roads, new settlements and upgrades to cities. Cities produce double.
  6. 6Reach ten points. Settlements and cities are worth points. The first player to ten wins immediately.
