Tile Traveler — a free online tile placement game for 2 to 5 players

Tile Traveler is a browser board game where the board is built as you play. Draw a landscape tile, place it so the edges match, and decide whether to spend one of your meeples claiming the city, road, monastery or field you just extended. When the deck runs out, the highest score wins.

How it compares

Tile Traveler is played in the style of Carcassonne: edge-matching landscape tiles, meeples claiming features, and the constant question of whether to start something new or quietly join the city someone else has been building. The tile mix and scoring are our own.

How to play Tile Traveler

  1. 1Create a room. Open Tile Traveler, pick a name and avatar, create a room, and share the six-character code.
  2. 2Draw a tile. On your turn you draw the next landscape tile from the deck.
  3. 3Place it legally. The tile must be placed touching the existing board with every shared edge matching: field to field, road to road, city to city.
  4. 4Claim a feature. You may then place one meeple on the tile you just laid, claiming its city, road, monastery or field. You only have so many.
  5. 5Score and recover meeples. When a city or road is completed it scores, and the meeples on it come back to you to use again.
  6. 6Finish the deck. When the last tile is placed, unfinished features and fields score at a reduced rate. Highest total wins.
