Wildstack — a free online shedding card game for 2 to 8 players

Wildstack is a fast card game about getting rid of your hand before anyone else. Match the colour or the symbol showing on the pile, drop a Skip or a Draw on whoever is next, and remember to call your last card before somebody catches you holding it. Play with friends over a room code in three different modes.

How it compares

Wildstack sits in the same family as Crazy Eights, Mau Mau and Uno: match colour or symbol, action cards that punish the next player, and a race to an empty hand. The deck, the artwork, the Blast and Flip cards and the scoring are our own — this is not an official edition of any of them.

How to play Wildstack

  1. 1Start a room. Open Wildstack, pick a name and avatar, choose a mode, and create a room. Share the six-character code with up to seven friends.
  2. 2Match the pile. On your turn play one card that matches the colour or the symbol showing. A wild goes on anything and lets you name the next colour.
  3. 3Draw if you are stuck. Nothing playable? Draw one card. Play it straight away if it fits, otherwise pass the turn on.
  4. 4Attack the next player. Skips cost them their turn, Reverses turn the table around, and Draw cards force them to pick up and miss a go.
  5. 5Call your last card. The moment you are down to one card, press Last card. Any opponent who catches you first makes you pick up two.
  6. 6Shed your hand. The first player with no cards left wins and scores whatever everyone else is still holding.

Wildstack — frequently asked questions

How many players can play Wildstack?

Two to eight. It works as a head-to-head duel and as a full table; with more players the action cards come round faster.

What are the three Wildstack modes?

Classic is the standard game. Nightfall gives every card a second, darker face and adds a Flip card that turns the whole game over at once, with much harsher penalties on the dark side. Overdrive adds Blast cards, which hit the next player for a random zero to twelve.

What happens if I forget to call my last card?

Any opponent can catch you while you are still holding one uncalled card, and you pick up two. The window closes as soon as you take your next turn, and you have to call again every time your hand comes back down to one.

Is Wildstack the same as Uno?

No. Wildstack is our own game in the long tradition of Crazy Eights-style shedding games. It shares the shape those games have had for over a century, but the deck, artwork, modes and scoring are ours, and it is not affiliated with or endorsed by any other publisher.

Do I need an account to play?

No. You can play as a guest straight away. Signing in only adds your finished games to your match history and the leaderboard.
