Secret Assembly — a free online hidden-role game for 5 to 10 players

Secret Assembly is a live social deduction game you play in the browser with friends. A hidden minority knows exactly who they are; everyone else has to work it out from votes, policies and the lies people tell to explain them. Rules are resolved on the server, so nobody can peek at the deck or read anyone else's role.

How it compares

If you have played Secret Hitler, Werewolf or Mafia around a table, Secret Assembly will feel immediately familiar. It is our own game with its own deck and powers rather than a copy of any of them, but the shape is the same: a hidden faction, a nervous majority, and a vote that quietly tells everyone something about you.

How to play Secret Assembly

  1. 1Create a room. Pick Secret Assembly, choose a name and an avatar, and create a room. You get a six-character code to share.
  2. 2Get everyone in. Friends open the same link or type the code. You need 5 to 10 players.
  3. 3Read your secret role. When the host starts the game the server deals roles privately. Only you ever see yours.
  4. 4Nominate and vote. Each round the current leader nominates a partner, and the table votes the government up or down. Rejected votes push the agenda forward on their own.
  5. 5Pass policies. An elected government draws policies and enacts one in secret. What comes out is public; who discarded what is not.
  6. 6Work out who is lying. Powers unlock as policies stack up. Use them, talk, and decide who to trust before the hidden faction reaches its target.

Secret Assembly — frequently asked questions

How many players do you need for Secret Assembly?

Five to ten. Below five there is not enough hidden information to work with, and the room will not start.

Is Secret Assembly free?

Yes, completely. There is nothing to buy, nothing to install, and you do not need an account to play — creating one just keeps your match history and stats.

Can other players see my role?

No. Roles and the policy deck live on the server and are never sent to a client that should not have them, so there is nothing to find in the page source.

How long does a game take?

Usually 20 to 40 minutes, depending on player count and how much the table argues.
